Frontline Health is a program with an admittedly ambitious goal: improving the capacity of Canada's healthcare system to serve marginalized populations. Across Canada, many people are beyond the reach of our mainstream healthcare system. Some live on the margins of society. Some live far away. Some live just around the corner.
Throughout the country, there is a remarkable group of healthcare practitioners who have chosen to respond to this challenge. They are innovators, providing not only critical healthcare but health promotion and community services aimed at keeping people well.
We want Canadians - indeed, the world - to know about the inspiring and vital work that frontline healthcare practitioners do everyday in communities across our country. And ultimately, we hope that Frontline Health will demonstrate the same kind of leadership they do.
Collaborating with frontline practitioners for change
Collaboration is the key to achieving our goal. We are not the experts. The experts are out there on the frontlines, working in our inner cities, practicing from mobile health units, caring for our remote populations. They are visionary individuals and organizations, leaders in the field who guide our decisions and show us where the need and opportunity is greatest.Research conducted with the Canadian Policy Research Network (CPRN) helped shape the program and current roundtable workshops organized with frontline health leaders keep the program relevant and real.
