What is the Frontline Health Program?

The Frontline Health Program is a corporate citizenship initiative of AstraZeneca Canada.

What is the goal of the Frontline Health Program?

Frontline Health aims to improve the provision of healthcare and health promotion to geographically and socially marginalized populations in Canada. We believe that every Canadian, whether living on the street or 100 kilometers from the nearest hospital, has the right to quality care.

How will you achieve your goal to improve healthcare for marginalized populations?

Through collaboration and partnership with thought leaders and practitioners on the frontlines of health, our research and interaction with them has helped us identify key areas of focus for the program:

• building networks that connect practitioners from the frontlines of health and facilitate information sharing;
• identifying and telling the stories of innovation and success in frontline healthcare that exist across Canada;
• and supporting innovation and learning through investment in organizations and academic institutions with demonstrated success in addressing issues from the frontlines of health.

What is the Frontline Health Knowledge Network? Is it something I can join ?

The Frontline Health Knowledge Network is a virtual, online community that allows groups and individuals to exchange information and resources, manage documents, share best practices and collaborate. Please visit our Resources section for more information and to learn if you are eligible to join.

Why did AstraZeneca Canada develop Frontline Health?

At AstraZeneca Canada, we believe that every Canadian, whether living on the street or 100 kilometers from the nearest hospital, has the right to quality care. That's why we developed the Frontline Health Program. The focus on the frontlines of health as an issue is the result of a thoughtful and co-creative process that engaged employees and frontline stakeholders. Frontline Health represents our values and desire to act with courage and leadership in the Canadian healthcare system.

How was Frontline Health developed?

Frontline Health was developed with the input and support of our employees and stakeholders from the field. Research into healthcare on the frontlines in Canada and the advice and experience of on-the-ground practitioners, academics and experts helped us develop the goals and objectives of the program. We continue to engage thought leaders from the frontlines of health in order to keep the program grounded and relevant.

Is Frontline Health a commercial initiative of AstraZeneca's?

No. While Frontline Health is a corporate initiative, it is not a commercial one. It is not tied to any of our therapeutic areas or products. Rather, it is an expression of our long-term commitment and dedication to improving the quality of healthcare for all Canadians.

Do you provide funding to nonprofit organizations that serve the frontlines of health?

We have made investments to organizations that provide services on the frontlines of health and continue to assess opportunities as they arise. All of our corporate giving, including giving for the Frontline Healthprogram, is managed through AstraZeneca Canada's online application system.
